Managing Director-Head of Global Front Line Risk Program Execution, CIB COO, Wells Fargo

Saira Shah joined the International CIB COO team in 2023 as Head of International Control Execution, based in London.  Recently, Saira has expanded her responsibilities to spearhead the global CIB Front Line Risk Program Execution.

In her current capacity, Saira is responsible for fortifying and overseeing execution capabilities, in collaboration with our global risk program leads.  With a team spanning London, Hong Kong and the US, she focuses on executing pivotal controls, including Conduct, Cross‑border activity and the implementation of the Senior Managers Certification Regime (SMCR) for the UK. Additionally she supervises core front line non- financial risk programs such as Conduct Risk (including Conflicts of Interest, Sales Practices, Allegations, Insider Threat, as well as being responsible for a portfolio of compliance Risk programs (such as Fraud, Required Absence, and Privacy) and providing qualitative risk reporting that is integrated across all Risk Programs.

Saira joined us from JP Morgan where she spent 22 years in the CIB.  Whilst there she had responsibility for managing the Front Office risk, controls, governance, supervisory requirements and conduct within the Markets businesses.  Previous roles included implementing critical regulatory programs such the Mapping & Execution program designed to document and maintain the firm’s legal / regulatory requirements and linkage to the Business control environment, and leading CIB KYC Renewals & Remediation. Prior to that Saira led FX Client Management & Product Sales in the UK, Europe and later Asia‑Ex Japan, based in Hong Kong.

Saira is a graduate of the London School of Economics, with a Bachelors of Science degree in Industrial Relations and Management.
