Michael joined HSBC in 2018 as Managing Director into the Markets & Securities Services (MSS) Regulatory Compliance team in London. As EMEA Head of Markets Regulatory Compliance he is responsible for the second line of defence compliance coverage of the markets sales and trading businesses across the region. Michael is additionally Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) for HSBC’s Swap Dealer registration with the CFTC and Security Based Swap Dealer registration with the SEC.

Michael started his career qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) in 1999, and shortly after moved to Merrill Lynch where he spent three years in internal audit covering both private wealth and markets activity. Michael moved to Goldman Sachs in 2003, originally into internal audit, before moving to markets compliance where he was responsible for compliance advisory to various businesses across Fixed Income, Currencies, and Commodities, and Equity Derivatives.
