Janel Burdick

Director, Office of Enforcement, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission

Janel Burdick is the Director of the Office of Enforcement (OE) at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).  She previously served as the Deputy Director of OE, Director of the Division of Energy Market Oversight (DEMO), and Deputy Director of the Division of Analytics and Surveillance (DAS) in OE. Ms. Burdick joined FERC in 2009 and supervised and led the analytics for over 60 investigations into market manipulation, tariff violations, or other violations of FERC’s regulations in the wholesale natural gas and electricity markets.  Ms. Burdick also served as a policy advisor to former FERC Chairman Norman Bay.

Prior to joining FERC, Ms. Burdick was a Product Controller and Settlements Analyst for the United States commodities trading desk at Barclays Capital, working primarily with the natural gas and electricity desks.  She also served in the United States Navy as a Nuclear Surface Warfare Officer.

Ms. Burdick holds a Bachelor of Science in Quantitative Economics from the United States Naval Academy and a Master of Public Administration from Columbia University.
