Ivan Gerstein transitioned to CM Supervision within OCOO in June 2016, providing management and oversight for trade surveillance activities in NY and more recently North America, supporting all the Lines of Business within Global Equity Products and Cross Asset Solutions.  Over his tenure, Ivan has taken on an expanded role within 1st Line Supervision, including the acquisition of an Algo Trading Platform / Broker Dealer (Clearpool) and various initiatives that transcended Global Markets, and was promoted to MD in November 2020.

Ivan has two and a half decades of financial services experience, spanning many functions and products within the industry.  Previously at Bear Stearns, Marsh and McLennan, and Morgan Stanley in Business Unit Controller roles, he joined BMO in 2008 as a VP in Finance.  Ivan managed the NY Product Control Department which exponentially grew with each initiative that expanded the trading strategies in NY and functions of the US Broker/Dealer.  In 2011, Ivan was promoted to Director in Finance.  His Department was then migrated to Global Middle Office in 2013.

He represents CM Supervision at the US Legal Entity Risk Committee, Regulatory Reporting Steering Committees, and on numerous business and operational initiative assessments.  Additionally, he faces off directly with regulators and previously assisted the Deputy COO in coordinating regulatory exams of the US Broker/Dealer and NY Branch.

Ivan holds an MBA in Finance and Marketing from the Stern School of Business at New York University, a CPA, possesses the Series 24 and 7 certifications, and currently working towards the Canadian equivalent of those regulatory registrations.
